Ingredients

1 lb. cooking apples

3 tbsp. water

3 tbsp. sugar

3 cloves

4 oz. self-rising flour

2 oz. butter or margarine

3 tbsp. coconut

3 tbsp. brown sugar

Method

Peel and slice apples 1/4" thick.

Place in a pie dish with water, sugar and cloves.

In a mixing bowl sift flour and rub in chopped butter until it looks like fine bread crumbs.

Mix in the coconut and sugar.

Spoon mixture evenly over apples and bake in moderate oven, 350 to 380 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes (until top is light brown).

Serve with warm custard or whipped cream.
